The Sony WH-1000XM3 are the best noise-cancelling headphones on earth for two years working now. Sure, they might have had just a small refinement after last year’s superb WH-1000XM2, but subtle tweaks like using USB-C instead of micro USB and incorporating padding along the bridge help make Sony’s award-winning cans even better.

So why does everyone love these Sony earphones so much? Properly, it’s exceptionally good at cancelling outside noise. Put a pair on while vacuuming, and you’ll barely hear the electric motor running. For music fans, the Sony WH-1000XM3 features aptX HD and Sony LDAC, two of the best ways to listen to Hi-Res songs from your phone without a wire. Finally, all of Sony’s flagship headsets offer both Google Assistant and, starting in 2019, Alexa support, making them not only the best noise-cancelling cans out there but some of the smartest, too.

3. Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700

1
Bose Noise Cancelling Wireless Bluetooth Headphones 700
The Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 are decent noise cancelling headphones for most uses that set themselves apart thanks to their impressive integrated microphone, good isolation performance, and stylish, futuristic design.
View on Amazon Amazon.com

They don’t quite beat the Sony WH-1000XM3s with regards to battery life and price, but the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 is still a brilliant pair of over-ear cans – and the best Bose headphones we’ve reviewed. Traditionally, noise-cancelling headsets have been created to block out the environmental sounds around you, to enable you to hear your music more clearly (or catch some shut-attention on a noisy trip). This could be effective if you’re listening to songs. If you’re creating a phone call, however, the person you’re speaking to can still hear everything that’s taking place around you. The Bose Noise Cancelling Headsets 700 seeks to remedy this by applying noise-cancellation to phone calls along with music, which is a fantastic feature – that’s why these are the very best noise-cancelling headphones for making calls.
The sound quality is undeniably good, with a vibrant, lively character and well-balanced soundstage.

4. Bose QuietComfort 35 II/QC35 II Wireless

1
Bose QuietComfort 35 II Wireless Bluetooth Headphones
The headphones can be paired with two devices at once via Bluetooth or NFC technology. Bose QuietComfort 35 Series II are wireless noise-cancelling headphones.
View on Amazon Amazon.com

The Bose QuietComfort 35 II are excellent Bluetooth over-ear headphones for commuting and travelling with several improvements on the previous model. The redesign doesn’t transformation much, but provides a little more functionality and a dedicated button for Google Associate/Alexa, or even to change between noise-cancelling modes, that is a welcome addition. They’re still incredibly comfortable headphones with an extremely well-balanced sound user profile and a flexible, easy-to-use design. However, their dedicated companion app does not have any EQ configurations, plus they leak a lot at increased volumes.

5. Sony WF-1000XM3 True Wireless Earbuds: Best ANC Earbuds in 2020

1
Sony WF-1000XM3 Industry Leading Noise Canceling Truly Wireless Earbuds Headset
The Sony WF-1000XM3 are neutral-sounding and versatile truly wireless headphones. Their design is stylish and feels premium but it’s a bit hard to find a good airtight fit as their tip options are larger than average. This mainly negatively impacts their bass reproduction and isolation performance.
View on Amazon Amazon.com

It’s not often you’ll find a set of wired earbuds, let alone a pair of true wifi earbuds on a list of the best noise-cancelling headsets; considering it’s still rare to find the technology in earphones at all, the Sony WF-1000XM3s are imposing indeed, and fully deserve a place in this roundup.

The Sony WF-1000XM3s manages to offer a level of noise cancellation that’s very good for a pair of earbuds – they won’t provide the same isolation as a set of over-ear cans, but if you’re after a sleek form factor, then the compromise is worth it. These are the very best noise-cancelling headphones for those who prefer an in-ear form element.

6. Apple AirPods Pro Truly Wireless

1
Apple AirPods Pro
The Apple AirPods Pro are a welcome upgrade to the previous models of Apple company AirPods. Their in-ear fit makes them much more stable in the ears, and they've improved their sound reproduction significantly, though some may find this design less comfortable.
View on Amazon Amazon.com

The best noise-cancelling earbuds we’ve tested up to now are the Apple AirPods Pro. These small in-ears have a new design with a shorter stem and a more typical in-ear fit than what you’ll find on the previous AirPods models. They’re very comfortable and easy to carry around thanks to their excellent charging case. You can expect over 5 hours of battery life on a single charge, on top of being able to recharge them five them with their point entirely.

Their ANC is quite impressive for such little headphones. They do an excellent job of reducing ambient noise and are a perfect option for people that are on the move often and need to reduce the rumble of a plane or bus engine. They also barely leak audio, even at high volumes, so you shouldn’t bother people surrounding you. Their overall sound signature is also very well-balanced and neutral, although some may feel like they’re a bit bass-light.

Offering class-leading battery life, terrific style, and plenty of personalization when it comes to appearing profiles, the Elite 85h is comfortable to recommend. That said, purists will lament the lack of high-end codec support, and there are punchier headphones out there at this price point. When you consider that Jabra’s Elite 85h headphones are the company’s very first attempt at premium wireless ANC headphones, the result is quite commendable. We can’t wait to observe what the company’s next high-quality ANC earphones will accomplish. If you want an alternative to Sony’s WH-1000XM3, these are a great pair of noise-cancelling headphones.

9. Marshall Monitor II ANC

View on Amazon Amazon.com

The Marshall Monitor II ANC is undoubtedly the brand’s best headphones yet; the sound quality available here considerably surpasses some of its earlier versions, with a well-balanced presentation, comfortable mids, and a usually powerful, rock-ready audio. They feel safe, come with a great deal of excellent rock heritage, and appearance stylish. That, alongside their excellent noise cancellation, simple settings, and accompanying app, can make the Marshall Keep track of II ANCs a compelling option to the Sony WH-1000XM3. They don’t very win out when it comes to sound high quality or Noise-cancellation, but these over-ear headphones remain very good indeed.

Sennheiser Momentum 3 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones
The stylish MOMENTUM 3 Noise-Canceling Wireless Over-Ear Headphones from Sennheiser features smart technologies that are designed let you enjoy your audio in peace, but quickly interact with your surroundings when you need to.
View on Amazon Amazon.com

In terms of sheer sound quality, the Sennheiser Momentum 3 Wireless headphones sound outstanding, with high degrees of detail, cosy bass, and natural-sounding highs. The customizable sound cancellation available here’s also good. Nonetheless, it doesn’t very achieve the class-leading criteria fixed by the Sony WH-1000XM3 Wireless headphones. They will have nowhere close to the battery living of Sony’s earphones, and are more costly – which begs the question, why choose the Sennheisers once you may have the WH-1000XM3? Well, if built-in Tile monitoring that suits you, and you just like the commercial design and premium components of the Momentum 3 Cellular, that may be reason more than enough – and when you do choose them on the Sony design, you won’t be passing up on any high audio quality. Due to that, they’re matched.

JBL is a popular title in the beautiful world of headsets and Bluetooth loudspeakers, and rightly thus. Solidly dependable, customers know what to anticipate from the brand name – the decent sound of high quality for a reasonable price. That’s what we found with the JBL Live life 650BTNC this past year – and today, ready to get their place will be the JBL Tune 750BTNC, an excellent successor to the 650BTNC’s as a high-spec and well-priced group of over-ear headphones. The JBL Tune 750BTNC audio great, look incredible, plus they fit nicely. Reliable and simple to use, you might skip waterproofing and some minor functions – but as of this cost, it feels foolish to complain as well readily.

13. Microsoft Surface Headphones 2 (2020)

1
NEW Microsoft Surface Headphones 2
They look and perform almost identically to their predecessor in most ways as they've kept the same, comfortable design with super intuitive controls. However, with this update, they're now on Bluetooth version 5.0 and can support aptX codec.
View on Amazon Amazon.com

Microsoft Surface Headphones 2 is suitable for commute and travel. They have extraordinary active noise cancellation that’s also adjustable so you can block out bus or plane engine noise and then lower it if you need to hear boarding calls. They’re also comfortable and lightweight enough to wear for long journey days, and although they’re bulky, their ear cups can swivel to fit into their carrying case or in your backpack. They also have a 16-hour battery life, which should last through a commute or even some long-haul flights before they need to be charged again.

The Microsoft Surface Headphones 2 is the next generation of the Microsoft Surface area Wireless Headphones. They look and perform almost identically to their predecessor in most ways as they’ve kept the same, comfortable design with super intuitive controls. However, with this update, they’re right now on Bluetooth version 5.0 and may support aptX codec. They’ve also improved their battery life so you can get just a bit above 16 hours of continuous playback time before you need to recharge them. On the downside, although their variable active noise cancelling is fantastic, it performs slightly less well than the first generation. These headphones are also more prone to inconsistent bass and treble delivery.

14. Microsoft Surface Wireless Headphones

Microsoft Surface Headphones

View on Amazon Amazon.com

The Microsoft Surface area Headphones are above-average blended usage headset. They’re comfortable for long listening periods and also have a good construction that should be final you some time. However, their audio is small on the warmer aspect, which is better fitted to followers of bass and will not be perfect for vocal-centric songs. On the upside, they will have among the best & most complete handle schemes we’ve examined up to now with two touch-delicate cups and excellent dials that are user friendly. They are also noise-cancelling headsets, which are suitable for commuting and any office. They will have a useful ANC function that reduces motor rumbles by quite a bit, but they are a little bit bulky being that they are over-ears. If you don’t brain their size, they’re a good option for the daily commute. Also, they are quite comfy for lengthy flights; however, the shallow cups may not be a good fit for everybody.

15. Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2

The sound quality, battery life, and design of the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 are genuinely brilliant – and they’re a perfect alternative to the Sony WF-1000XM3, mainly if you prefer a more flashy design to adorn your ears. We did find that those with smaller ears sometimes find them a little uncomfortable, however, and their high price stops them from consuming the top spot of this roundup. Otherwise? Sennheiser has just about knocked it out from the park with these buds, offering excellent noise cancellation alongside sensible looks and stunning sound.

16. Nura Nuraphone

1
nuraphone — Wireless Bluetooth Over Ear Headphones with Earbuds
The Nura Nuraphone are unique headphones thanks to their hybrid design. The over-ear part of the headphones provides you with punchy bass, while the in-ear part is for the mid and treble ranges, which unfortunately sounds a bit sharp and piercing.

If you haven’t found something quite to your liking so far, we have one last option so that you can look at – the all-new Nura Nuraphone over-ear/in-ear hybrid. Their form factor means you’ve not only got an earbud sitting at the entrance of your hearing canal, but also an over-ear cushion seated over your entire ear. This effectively means you’ve obtained two actual physical barriers meaning that the noise from the outside world can’t get to your ears. While more traditional over-ear headphones do a better job offering useful features at a reasonable price, the Nuraphone will appeal to the even more experimental audio group looking to be on the bleeding-edge of the next big thing.

17. Amazon Echo Buds Truly Wireless

1

If you don’t want to spend nearly as much, go with the Amazon Echo Buds. Their ANC doesn’t work quite as well as the Apple AirPods Pro Truly Wireless, and they don’t feel and premium or durable, but they’re considerably cheaper and still block a lot of background noise provided you’re able to achieve a tight seal. Their well-balanced sound user profile is versatile enough for most genres and content, but with a bit of extra kick and rumble. While they still block lots of background sounds, most of this is carried out passively by physically plugging your ears, and their ANC only helps a little. Their battery existence is identical to the Apple company, and their companion app has a Graphic EQ so you can customize the way they sound.

If you want the best ANC, we’ve tested on a pair of truly wireless headphones, get the Apple, but if you want headphones that will still give you some quiet while also saving you a ton of cash, go for the Amazon.

18. Razer Opus Wireless

View on Amazon Amazon.com

The best noise-cancelling headphones under $200 that we’ve tested so far are the Razer Opus. These Bluetooth over-ears offer outstanding value and look and feel almost identical to the Sony WH-1000XM3 Wireless. They’re very comfortable, even during longer listening sessions, and they last nearly 33 hours off a single charge, which is excellent. Their physical controls are easy to use, and they even come with a great hard carrying case if you need to toss them into a bag or suitcase.

Their ANC performance is excellent, especially considering their price, and easily competes with other options that cost nearly double the price, such as the Bose QuietComfort 35 II/QC35 II Wireless 2018. It does an excellent job of blocking out all frequency ranges, including the low rumble of bus and plane engines. Their sound profile is also very natural and well-balanced, and their companion app allows you to customize the way they sound via a graphic EQ and presets.

Unfortunately, their integrated microphone isn’t great, and your voice easily gets drowned out in noisy environments, though this is common with many Bluetooth headphones. They also lack some advanced features like multi-device pairing, so you’ll have to re-connect them every time you want to switch from your phone to a laptop. That being said, they provide an outstanding price-to-performance ratio and are among the best office headphones we’ve tested.

Mpow H10 Hybrid Active Noise Cancelling Headphones
The Mpow H10 headphones have good sound, excellent battery life, decent ANC and look ok. And I like their foldable design. View on Amazon Amazon.com

Mpow H10 is the greatest budget noise-cancelling headphones we’ve reviewed up to now. These over-ears are usually comfortable and also have an excellent active noise cancelling function for their price. They even enable about 23 hrs of constant listening, which is good. They can also be utilized wired should anyone ever desire to decrease the latency or if the battery power is dead.

Sound-wise, they’re much better fitted to bass-heavy songs. They have a thrilling V-shaped sound user profile having an overemphasis in both bass and treble ranges. Their ANC can decrease a good quantity of lower-end sounds, such as, for example, engine rumble, that is ideal for your day-to-day commute or if you often have a plane.

Unfortunately, their cost reflects within the construction. They’re decently constructed but feel quite plasticky, and the hinges create thunderous cracking audio once you fold them in. Also, their mic isn’t the very best to make calls, especially not really in noisy circumstances. However, if you are with limited funds, their price-to-functionality ratio is great, and they’re some of the best noise-cancelling headphones offered by a realistic price.

20. Mixcder E9 Wireless

1
Mixcder E9 Active Noise Cancelling Headphones

The Mixcder E9 are good budget headphones that perform quite well. They have a good overall audio reproduction, and their ANC system is quite decent as well. They have a long enough battery living full time, and their design is quite comfortable to use for hours. However, they do experience a bit plasticky, though they aren’t quite as cheap as some other headphones in their price range. On the upside, they have a great and easy to use control scheme and have surprisingly low latency for Bluetooth headsets. These earphones are quite comfortable for long rides, and their ANC is usually decent for blocking out ambient noise. They’re good at reducing the noise from a bus or plane engine, which is great for your daily commute to work or longer flights. The lengthy battery life should be more than enough for the longest trips as well.

21. AKG N700NC Wireless Headphones Review

AKG (A Samsung Brand) N700NC M2 Over-Ear Foldable Wireless Headphones
The AKG N700NC are decent mixed-usage wireless noise-cancelling over-ear headphones. They have a premium look and feel well-made. They will have great audio reproduction and a decent ANC performance, making them a good choice for commuting.

The AKG N700NC are decent mixed-usage wireless noise-cancelling over-ear headphones. They have a superior look and feel well-made. They will have great audio reproduction and a decent ANC performance, making them a good selection for commuting. Unfortunately, they have high latency, which is not ideal for watching movies but can be used wired to get rid of it. On the upside, they have a good battery living and are fairly versatile headsets for everyday casual use situations. heir ANC isn’t the most powerful, but it does a good job of reducing ambient chatter.
