Beat’s latest true truly wireless earbuds, the PowerBeats Pro, is something exclusive – they’re supremely comfortable, sound decent and seem to never, ever fall out, which is why we think they’re the best running headsets of 2020. They’re ideal for running thanks to their close-fitting ear hooks and IPX4 sweatproof rating, along with nifty additions like the pressure-reducing micro-laser barometric venting hole, their long battery life, and their superior sound quality. Where we found the Powerbeats Pro to perform their best is in near-quiet environments, like your office, your home or your gym – because you can use hands-free Siri, they’re great for setting timers in between sets and placing calls to friends and clients. But take them outside for a jog, and they’ll still do the trick, because of their energetic audio.

With a lively, bass-heavy presentation, and a comfortable fit, the Sennheiser CX Sport wireless earphones can bolster your operating performance through sound quality alone. They don’t come with a heart rate monitor, but the inclusion of ear fins and sporty neon colour scheme makes them ideal for casual workouts. AfterShokz specializes in making wireless options designed in a way that particularly suits urban runners. Sound is delivered through your cheekbones, thanks to bone-conducting tech which leaves your ears open, free to hear the traffic around you. You can keep chatting with those around you easily and if you’re in a race you’ll be able to hear the cheering from the sidelines too. What sets these running headphones apart is they’re one of the few sets that are ‘race-legal’ in some countries, as they allow you to hear the commands of marshalls and visitors on open-road courses. If you want to run with music in smaller races, these are your only option. We found the Air to be more comfortable than previous AfterShokz models so if you don’t mind shelling out a little extra money there will be one of the best for you. Plus they’re sweat-proof, have a good secure fit and they can’t fall out when you’re jogging either as there aren’t any earbuds.

The knitted headband and ear cushions can even be removed and washed after particularly sweaty sessions. Plus, with 40-hour battery life, they’ll last you for multiple marathons. While the sound quality isn’t the finest we’ve ever heard, the RPT-01s are suitably loud and bassy, which is something you’ll want to push you through that final lap. They’re certainly the best running headsets we’ve tested with this form factor.

Whether you’re sweating buckets or running doggedly through the rain, the X4 will be able to cope with it. The Jaybird X4s also can keep the series’ surprisingly good sound. These earphones are certain fitness first, but that doesn’t mean the other things people look for in a pair of earphones – you know, like music – have fallen by the wayside. Jaybird’s excellent app furthermore provides easy EQ customization as well as the ability to make your sound profile, with various ear tip sizes to boot. A great all-round choice for the runner who doesn’t want to skimp on sound – or be wary of the weather. Their sound profile is well-balanced, and their semi-open design gives them a better soundstage than almost all in-ears. Unfortunately, their 6-hour battery lifestyle is only mediocre and they don’t block as much noise as other in-ear/earbuds which is not ideal for commuting. Their build quality also isn’t as durable as some of the some other Bose designs. On the upside, they’re very portable, and they include a decent carrying case as well. The Bose SoundSport Wireless are very good headphones for sports use. They’re wireless and compact sufficient to carry around wherever you proceed. View on Amazon Amazon.com

Their fit is good and fairly comfortable, on top of sealing off ambient noise, making them well-rounded for some everyday uses. Unfortunately, they won’t be great for watching videos due to their very high latency, and some may feel like 4 hours of battery life isn’t enough for a single charge. On the upside, they also offer a 12-month subscription for Under Armour’s fitness app called MapMyRun. The JBL UA True Wireless Flash is designed for working out and will be suitable for most sports activities. They fit securely inside the ear and don’t move much when being active. Their stability fins will help to keep them in place and since you get different size options, you’ll be able to find the most stable one for you. The Jabra Elite Sport are good headphones for running and working out, but they also do well for most use cases. They have a decently sturdy and rugged design with easy-to-use controls but a mediocre layout.
View on Amazon Amazon.com

There’s wireless, and there’s true wireless, and the top-finish Jabra Elite Sports activity will be the latter. Beyond the cordless style, the headline function is the Listen to Through tech which allows you to regulate what sort of buds allow in or filter ambient sound – with only a quick button push. The on-the-go charging case offers 13.5 hours of battery life altogether, but with just 4.5 hrs available from the single charge, slower marathon runners should probably jog on – although, for 99% of one’s training, this will not be an issue. But not marketed for swimming, they’re also IP67 certified water-resistant. The companion application furthermore utilizes the built-in heart rate monitor to improve your workouts, along with the inner accelerometer to keep track of your reps of squats, lunges and so on. These are costly buds, however, the amount they can do is amazing – for most, they’ll be your go-to choice for the new running headphones.

9. Beats PowerBeats 3

1
Powerbeats3 Wireless Earphones - Apple W1 Headphone Chip

They have more accurate audio reproduction than the previous Powerbeats 2 Wireless but kept a similar sports-oriented design. Their stable ear-hooks and the breathable in-ear fit are great for working out. Unfortunately, they don’t have the best noise isolation performance, which will affect their effectiveness during a daily commute or at the office. On the upside, they don’t leak too much so you can mask more ambient noise by raising your volume, and their battery life will last you for a full workday. The ear-hook design is great for added stability during physical activities, and the in-ear fit is very breathable. Also, they are very portable and can fit in most pockets and bags, meaning you can bring them to work out about anywhere. These headphones were designed for this use and their style shows it. They are small, transportable, breathable, and very stable due to their balance fins. Their case can be smaller, easier to open, and three additional charges, giving them a complete of 27 hrs of battery living, which is very good for truly cellular headphones. Their bass has even more thump than previous models, but sadly, they don’t isolate sound almost as well. General, they’re a well-rounded couple of truly wireless in-ears that needs to be good for most utilizes. The Jabra Elite 75t are good for commuting and vacation. While they’re very comfy and shouldn’t lead to fatigue during lengthy bus rides or flights, however, their passive isolation is greatly reduced from the prior model, plus they won’t filter the rumble from the plane or bus motor. 1
Echo Buds – Wireless earbuds with immersive sound, active noise reduction
The Echo Buds True Wireless In-Ear Earphones from Amazon integrates hands-free access to the Alexa digital assistant via the Alexa app on your iOS or Android device.
View on Amazon Amazon.com

If you aren’t worried about your surroundings and want something that helps keep you focused, get the Amazon Echo Buds. They aren’t as comfortable as the Jaybird Vista Truly Wireless, and their touch-sensitive settings may bother some people, but they isolate much more background noise thanks to their ANC, and their default sound profile isn’t as vivid and piercing. They have a very similar single-charge battery lifestyle, but their case gives five fees, which is great. Sadly, while their app has a graphic EQ, it doesn’t allow for the same kind of fine-tuning because of the parametric EQ in Jaybird’s app.

If you want a more comfortable pair of in-ears with physical handles, obtain the Jaybird, but if you want something with ANC which will do a much better job at blocking out background sound, go for the Amazon.

16. SoundPeats TrueFree Headphones

1
SoundPEATS True Wireless Earbuds 5.0 Bluetooth Headphones
The SoundPEATS True Wireless are decent mixed usage truly wireless in-ears. They offer great performance for their affordable price. These in-ears are fairly comfortable and isolate a decent amount of ambient noise, making them quite versatile for commuting and at the office.
View on Amazon Amazon.com

The best budget headphones for running that we’ve tested up to now are the SoundPeats TrueFree. These truly wireless in-ears have a low-profile design that doesn’t protrude from your ears too much and have a very stable fit without the need for stability fins. They’re made of sturdy-feeling, dense plastic and don’t weigh very much, so they shouldn’t get damaged by accidental drops. An IPX4 rating for sweat and water protection is a bonus, even though we don’t test for that.

They have a bass-heavy sound delivery that’ll keep you pumped up if you listen to plenty of EDM or hip-hop while you run but might come across as a little muddy on more delicate tracks. They do a good job of isolating background noise so you can stay focused on your music and maintaining your tempo. Sound leakage is minimal, which means you won’t have to worry about bothering others even if you listen to your music extremely loud.

Unfortunately, battery existence is disappointing, at just over 3 hours, but that can be expanded with a standby mode along with their carrying case, which supplies good enough energy for an additional four fees. Their case also lacks a cover and relies on magnets to keep the buds in areas. However, there are more expensive variants they do come with a lid, although we haven’t tested them yet. All in all, these are among the best wireless Bluetooth earbuds for working and working out we’ve examined and delivered great efficiency because of their price.

17. AfterShokz Aeropex Bone Conduction: Best Bone Conduction Headphone

1
AfterShokz Aeropex Open-Ear Wireless Bone Conduction Headphones
The AfterShokz Aeropex are Bluetooth bone conduction headphones. Due to their unique design, which uses vibrations instead of speakers to produce sound, they don't go on or inside the ear in any way, and the earbuds simply rest on your temples.
View on Amazon Amazon.com

The best headphones for running outdoors that we’ve tested so far are the AfterShokz Aeropex Bone Conduction. As the name implies, these headphones rest on your temples, not your ears, and transfer sound via vibrations in your bones. They primarily use a silicone material in their construction and have a flexible, if thin, headband, so they don’t feel like they’ll be damaged in a few accidental drops. They’re also rated IP57 for dust and water protection, though this isn’t something that we test for. Their 13-hour battery life, meanwhile, should get you through even longer marathons on a single charge.

Their unique design means that they lack a lot of basses, especially at the low-end, so if you’re the type who listens to a lot of EDM or hip hop to stay motivated during your runs, you might be a little disappointed. Of course, this also lets you stay aware of your surroundings, and the rest of their sound profile is versatile enough for other musical genres and audio content.

On the downside, they leak quite a bit of sound, so that they aren’t the best for listening in a quiet environment like an office or a library. They also work with a propriety charging cable, which might be a bit of a problem if it becomes damaged or is lost. With that said, if staying alert to your surroundings is a priority throughout your runs, it’s hard to do better than these.

18. Jaybird Tarah Pro

1
Jaybird Tarah Pro Bluetooth Waterproof Sport Premium Headphones
The Tarah Pro Wireless In-Ear Sport Headphones from Jaybird. On a full charge, you can listen for up to 14 hours, but if you're in a hurry, you can add up to 2 hrs of playtime with just 5 minutes of charging.
View on Amazon Amazon.com

The Jaybird Tarah Pro are great wireless sports in-ears that are fairly versatile for everyday casual use. They are an upgraded version of the regular Tarah model with better battery life, lower latency, slightly better sound quality, and new magnetic earbuds. They are also compatible with the Jaybird MySound app that lets you EQ the sound to your liking. Jaybird kept the same overall design of the Tarah, meaning the Pro version is also very portable and breathable for sports. Unfortunately, they have a new proprietary charging cradle that is cumbersome and restrictive, and for some reason, the Pro version can’t connect to two devices simultaneously, while the regular Tarah and Jaybird X4 can. On the upside, they have an amazing wireless range and isolate a good amount of ambient noise. Great sports headphones. The Tarah Pro are sports-oriented headphones with an IPX7 rating for sweat and water resistance. Their wireless design is very portable and breathable, which is great. You shouldn’t sweat more than usual while using them during your workouts. They also have a great control scheme that offers quick access to simple and useful functionalities. Their great battery life will also last you a few workouts.

1
Jabra Elite Active 65t Earbuds – True Wireless Earbuds with Charging Case
The Jabra Elite Active 65t are great sports earbuds designed to be lightweight, breathable, and portable. Slightly improved from the Jabra Elite 65t, these earbuds have a premium look and a more secure carrying case that'll help protect your earbuds from slight impacts.
View on Amazon Amazon.com

The Jabra Elite Active 65t are great sports earbuds designed to be lightweight, breathable, and portable. Slightly improved from the Jabra Elite 65t, these earbuds have a premium look and a more secure carrying case that’ll help guard your earbuds against small impacts. Sadly, they don’t have the most comfortable fit and will end up being fatiguing if you’re using them for long periods. Their sound user profile is also a bit unbalanced as there’s an overemphasis in the bass and treble ranges. However, the companion app offers a graphic EQ, allowing you to tweak the sound to better suit your preferences. The Jabra Elite Active 65t have great noise isolation for your everyday commute as are going to able to reduce some of the sounds of bus and train engines. While they may be fatiguing when put on for long periods such as on multi-hour flights, they should be comfortable good enough for a short commute to work. They’re also fairly portable, even in their travel case, and if you find the 5.2-hour battery life a little short, the case offers two additional charges.

20. Jabra Elite 65t Truly Wireless Headphones Review

1
Jabra Elite 65t Earbuds – Alexa Built-In, True Wireless Earbuds
The Jabra Elite 65t are decent, mixed-usage truly wireless headphones. They're easy to carry around, they block enough noise to also be suitable for commuting, and they're good for sports.
View on Amazon Amazon.com

The Jabra Elite 65t are decent, mixed-usage truly wireless headphones. They’re easy to carry around, they block enough noise to also be suitable for commuting, and they’re good for sports. They’re also fairly easy-to-use once you get familiar with the handles. Sadly, their unorthodox style is a little bulky and won’t be as comfortable for all listeners. Their charging case is a little loose and lacks magnets to keep the earbuds in place. The Jabra Elite 65t are breathable, lightweight, and portable. They also have a fairly easy-to-use control scheme as soon as you get used to it. However, their unique design isn’t as stable as some of the additional truly wireless in-ears we’ve reviewed so far. They may move around a bit or slip out from time to time according to the size and shape of your ears.

21. JBL E45BT Wireless

JBL E45BT On-Ear Wireless Headphones
The JBL E45BT are decent mixed usage wireless headphones, similar to the JBL Electronic55BT, but with an on-ear fit. They have a great battery life and wireless range and they sound good enough for most listeners with a satisfyingly well-balanced sound.
View on Amazon Amazon.com

The JBL E45BT is decent wireless headphones for most use cases. They have a great range and battery lifestyle and an above-average sound. Their on-ear match is not as comfortable as some of the additional on-ear headphones we’ve tested. They also have a bit too much latency for gaming and watching movies, but they’re versatile enough for sports and even for some essential listeners. They’re lightweight, breathable and restricted enough to stay on your head when jogging. Their wireless design also makes them less likely to fall because the audio cable got hooked on something, and they have a decently efficient control scheme. However, they’re not as stable as the E55BT and won’t be the most portable headphones for more intense workout routines which may hinder your actions. The JBL Electronic45BT possess a good battery life, great wireless range, and above-average sound quality. They’re not the comfiest earphones, and their build quality feels a bit plasticky, but they’re a good option for some use cases. Nevertheless, like most Bluetooth headsets they have a little too very much latency so they won’t end up being ideal for video gaming and home theatre.

These headphones certainly are a great option for sports. Their silicone tip and in-ear design is incredibly stable and should have no problem staying in during strenuous exercises. They’re small and lightweight, making them easy to toss in your pocket during workout routines. Their bass is improved over earlier models, which should help offer you a little extra thump to get you motivated. Their ANC will also help keep you from getting distracted even when working out in an occupied gym. The Apple AirPods Pro is a welcome upgrade to the previous models of Apple company AirPods. Their in-ear suit makes them much more steady in the ears, and they’ve improved their sound reproduction significantly, though some may find this design less comfortable. Their active noise cancelling works very well, and is one of the best that we’ve tested on in-ear headphones, making them a good option to use while commuting or at work. While they’re smaller than the previous model’s thanks to their shorter stems, they offer longer battery lifestyle and have an easier-to-use touch control scheme. Overall, they’re better earphones than the Apple AirPods 2 Truly Wireless 2019 and are much more versatile for every day make use of. The Apple company AirPods Pro are well-designed truly wireless headsets with a premium look and feel that matches prior models. Their audio reproduction is quite a bit better than the Apple AirPods 2 Truly Wireless 2019, which is a welcome improvement. Their ANC is also one of the best we’ve examined in a pair of truly wireless earbuds, producing them a great choice for commuting or using in the office. They’re very portable, stable, and quite comfortable, making them a good option for sports as well.

The Anker SoundCore Liberty Air 2 is a decent pair of truly wireless headphones that are a good upgrade over the previous version, offering some high-end features like wireless charging and a dedicated companion app. They have a well-balanced sound profile that has a little extra kick of bass but should be versatile enough for most genres. They also isolate a decent amount of background chatter and have amazing battery life for truly wireless headphones. The Anker SoundCore Liberty Air 2 feels quite stable in your ear once you find the proper fit with the included tips. Once you achieve a decent seal, the buds likely will stay in your hearing even during runs or light workouts. Unfortunately, they don’t have optional stability fins, which would help improve this even further. The Anker SoundCore Liberty Airflow 2 are great headphones for fitness use. Once you find the right-sized silicone tip, they feel very steady in your ear and will likely be able to withstand most workouts without falling out. They’re also fairly comfortable and also have a good touch-sensitive control scheme so you can change your music without taking out your phone. They’re rated IPX5 for sweat and water resistance, though we don’t test for this.

The Plantronics Backbeat Fit are above-average sports headphones but mediocre for more casual everyday use cases. They have a sturdy and flexible build quality and stable ear-hooks that will prevent them from falling, even during more strenuous exercises. Unfortunately, their sound quality is sub-par and very inconsistent. They also have a semi-open fit that won’t block a lot of noise, but on the upside, it does make them a decent choice for outdoor runners since you can monitor your environment for traffic. Decent headphones for sports and fitness. They have excellent breathability and incredibly good stability so they aren’t likely to fall out during brisk movements. They are a bit bigger than some other in-ear earphones but they fold nicely and can easily be kept in your pocket. These headsets have a cool minimalist design but feel a bit cheap. They will have a heavily coated neckband that’s flexible enough to fold and put into your wallet. This neckband seamlessly blends into the ear hook style which looks great. Unfortunately, since these are sports activities oriented sweatproof headphones, the heavy use of rubber and lack of metal accents does make sure they look a little bit cheap, especially since the rubber will collect a bit of dust and grime as you use them. On the upside, they are fairly compact and come in a couple of different colour schemes, so you can match them to your gym attire or stand out a bit more with your favourite colour.
